No — EthrA is not playable with friends right now. The current Steam Playtest is single-player only. (Last checked: September 22, 2026.)

Is EthrA multiplayer right now?

The Steam store page lists Single-player and Online Co-op, and that co-op tag causes a lot of confusion. The tag describes the finished game's planned capability. The current playtest — the only playable build — does not include multiplayer, something the developers have confirmed directly in the Steam community.

Can you play EthrA with friends?

Not at this stage. There is no friend invite, no lobby, no room system, and no crossplay in the current build — so this page deliberately has no "invite steps" section, because nothing official exists to describe. If a future test adds co-op, this page will be updated with the checked date.

How does multiplayer work?

What the developers have said so far:

  • Co-op is on the roadmap for the full game.
  • It has been described as supporting at least four players.

Everything else — how invites work, host migration, progress sharing, drops, split-screen, crossplay, or dedicated servers — has not been announced. Plans can change during development, so treat "at least four" as a plan, not a promise.

Is the current playtest co-op?

No. What makes EthrA unusual is that a single player controls both Bob and Veil at the same time — Bob fighting in melee while Veil casts spells and buffs. Two characters on screen does not mean two players. That control scheme is explained in detail in the gameplay overview.
