The official way to play EthrA before release is the Steam Playtest. You request access on the store page, wait for an invite, and install through Steam. There is no standalone demo, no fixed end date, and no other official download. (Entry status last checked: September 22, 2026.)
Current playtest status
The playtest is an early playable prototype focused on core combat and exploration basics. A first round ran in August; the developers reported over 120,000 Steam players took part. Because the game is in active development, features, balance, UI, and performance can all change between tests. This page is re-checked around updates — see the community channels for announcements between checks.
How to request access
- Open the official EthrA Steam page.
- Sign in to your Steam account.
- Find the Playtest section and select Request Access.
- Wait — Steam or the developers grant access in waves; requesting does not guarantee an immediate invite.
- Once granted, install only through the Steam client.
What the playtest includes
Expect the foundation, not the full game: basic combat with the dual-character control scheme, exploration, and early systems being validated. Officially shown systems such as fishing, farming, or housing are part of the game's direction — the gameplay overview separates what's been shown from what's playable today.
Is there an EthrA demo?
No standalone demo is confirmed. Some older official videos mentioned an upcoming demo, but the verifiable entry point today is the Steam Playtest. Anything offering an "EthrA demo download" outside Steam is not official.
How long does the playtest last?
No fixed end date has been announced. Watch the official Steam announcements and Discord for scheduling news; this page is updated when anything changes.
Safe download guidance
- The only official distribution is Steam.
- There is no official APK, mobile version, or third-party installer.
- Never download "trainers", cracks, or "access bypass" tools — they are malware vectors, and the Steam page guide lists the real system requirements instead.
Frequently asked questions
Is the playtest free?
Requesting the playtest costs nothing, but that says nothing about the full game's price — no retail price has been announced. See the release status page.
Does requesting access guarantee an invite?
No. Access is granted in waves as the developers prepare for more players.
Can I download EthrA outside Steam?
No official channel exists outside Steam. Anything else is unofficial and unsafe to install.
